THE FANTASY HOCKEY LEAGUE
If you want something done right, do it yourself!! An old adage that is responsible for the forming of the FHL. Back in the season of 94/95 my sister, Lynn, had joined a fantasy hockey league. The first such exposure to any fantasy league. As a long time Ranger fan, she thought it would be interesting and a source of spare time fun. She explained some of the basic rules to me, and even allowed me to make a few free agent pick-ups. We found ourselves on the phone on a daily basis discussing the league. During our many conversations, we were using phrases such as "The Commissioner should have done this....." or "If I created the league I would have......." Sometime by the end of the '94/'95 season, I posed the challenge, "Why don't we try it ourselves?" And we did.......
We are in our thirteenth season. Three of the six teams are the original owners. We have a very comprehensive and interactive league. Because of this, we have a "roll-over league." What this means is, we roll our rosters over from year to year. Without a doubt, a large part of the fun is for each owner to build and maintain their team knowing there will be no "re-drafts" to break up their rosters. They accomplish this through free agent pickups and trades. Why work on any blockbuster trades if everyone gets to re-draft during the summer!
One of our many unique features is, owners need to submit lineups on a weekly basis. You have a guy in a slump...............bench him! Put in one of your young prospects and give him some ice time. We keep statistics such as line comparisons, as the players and teams have produced in OUR League. We also have an Allstar Game between the best of the best in the FHL.
Well, this is only the tip of the Fantasy Hockey League iceberg. Feel free to browse through our website. Most of the pages found here are unlike any you will find in the "average" fantasy league. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to contact us through our League email address. So, until you have a chance to join the best League around, do the best you can!
